Taguig City - The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has certified four (4) flagship programs of the Technology Application and Promotion Institute as part of the 2024 National Priority Plan (NPP), namely: Invent School™ Program (Invent School™), 2024 National Invention Contests and Exhibits (NICE), Concept Prototyping Program (CPP), and Venture Financing Program (VFP).
The NPP is a list of priority programs, projects and activities of the government in the areas of education, health, youth and sports development, human settlements, science and culture, and economic development. The NEDA issues this list annually as mandated in the National Internal Revenue Code. Donations under NEDA-NPP are entitled to tax incentives in accordance with Section 34(H)(2)(a) of the National Internal Revenue Code. Donations may be in the form of cash or in-kind.
The Invent School™ serves as a platform to stimulate creativity and inventiveness among the youth, through the conduct of seminar-workshops for elementary, high school, and college students, by sharing techniques for developing creative knowledge crucial in invention and prototype development. The expected output of the program includes coming up with creative outputs for new inventions, research, and technology development; inventing or innovating ideas for community development; and awareness and protection of intellectual property rights.
The NICE is a biennial competition which honors the most exceptional Filipino inventions, innovations, and research efforts, recognizing their pivotal role in advancing the country's development. NICE acts as a forum, sustaining the generation of economically viable technologies and inventions, while also expediting the commercialization of technologies initiated by inventors. This year, NICE will be held on 16-18 July 2024.
The CPP aims at advancing inventions by facilitating the development of prototypes. These prototypes undergo testing to allow for adjustments to the design or operational parameters, ensuring sustainability before progressing to commercial production. Transforming innovative ideas into functional models demands substantial resources. Consequently, inventors should be encouraged to seek assistance, both technically and financially, and leverage government service facilities and laboratories to refine their concepts into working models.

The VFP expedites the commercialization of innovative technologies or inventions by offering crucial funding support to technology-based Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The VFP aims to grant financial assistance specifically to Filipino-owned MSMEs. VFP covers expenses such as raw materials, packaging materials, slotting or rental fees, web hosting and maintenance fees, upfront and/or licensing fees, and certification fees. Through VFP, it empowers technopreneurs by providing both technical assistance and a readily accessible financing mechanism to facilitate the growth of their businesses.
